Dr. Sherry Craft

Education

Dr. Sherry Craft is a highly accomplished Licensed Psychologist and Arizona Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience specializing in forensic and corrections psychology. She holds a PSYPACT E. Passport, earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Washington State University, and completed her doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship in correctional settings in Arizona.

Current Position

As Chief Clinical Officer at Empower Mental Health, Dr. Craft oversees clinical and forensic psychological services nationwide. A member of the Executive Leadership Team, she develops programs and policies, ensures compliance with accreditation standards, and collaborates with government and private sector stakeholders. Previously, as Mental Health Clinical Director for the Arizona Department of Corrections, she managed clinical services for inpatient psychiatric units and residential treatment facilities. More recently, she served as the Mental Health Clinical Director contracted with the Arizona Department of Corrections, overseeing the clinical services for both an inpatient psychiatric unit and residential treatment facility.

Dr. Craft specializes in comprehensive forensic assessments, drawing on extensive experience across diverse settings, including correctional facilities, outpatient clinics, hospitals, and private practice.

She is deeply engaged in the first responder community, providing clinical and consultative services to fire departments and law enforcement agencies. She is also a lecturer for the Phoenix Fire Department’s Paramedic Training Program and has conducted pre-employment psychological evaluations for law enforcement and mental health-related Compensation and Pension Examinations for military Veterans.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Craft has made significant contributions to the field of psychology as a dedicated educator and researcher. She has authored a book chapter, presented at over 20 professional psychology conferences, and teaches counseling and psychology courses as a faculty associate at Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. As a certified Clinical Supervisor, she mentors developing professionals in the field.

Personal Life

A native Arizonan, Dr. Craft enjoys weightlifting, traveling, golfing, and spending time with her loved ones and her Black Russian Terrier, Ivan, a certified therapy dog.
